Firefox – see how secure you are in a icon

Last week, Firefox released Version 14 of the Mozilla Firefox browser.

As well as including fixes to previous vulnerabilities, the latest version of the browser includes several new security features.

We like the new icons. They show users – instantly – how secure they are on the site they are visiting.

Any site that doesn’t have SSL security or has mixed content, will display a grey globe before the url. Like this:

Websites that have SSL certificates will feature the grey padlock icon, like this:

And websites secured by Extended Validation will feature a green padlock, next to the organisation’s name, like this:

A great move by Firefox, we say!
